The present contribution is part of the ongoing work aimed at researching and identifying the original material on which the names of Orobanche Linnaeus (1753: 632) described for Europe and the Mediterranean are based (Domina et al. 2005, Domina & Stepanek 2009, Domina et al. 2013, Carlón et al. 2015). Background and Aims Long-term experiments could provide valuable information to determine the effects of an agronomic practice on agro-ecosystem productivity and stability. This study evaluated the long-term (18-year) impact of different tillage systems on faba bean (Vicia faba L.) productivity, including weed and broomrape incidence, and N2 fixation. Methods The experiment was carried out on a Vertisol under rainfed Mediterranean conditions. It was set up as a strip plot design. The tillage systems were: conventional tillage (CT) with moldboard plow, reduced tillage (RT) with chisel plow, and no tillage (NT). Types of names of Orobanche taxa described from North Africa

In the framework of the revision of the genus Orobanche (including Phelipaea) in the Mediterranean area, the original material for 31 names of new taxa described from North Africa by Ball, Battandier, Forsska°l, Maire (partly with Emberger and Jahandiez), Persoon, Poiret and Pomel has been analysed. Typification is discussed, and where necessary types are designated. Accepted names and synonyms of the recognized taxa are given. Three species are illustrated, and one new combination (O. inexspectata) is proposed.
The genus Orobanche (Orobanchaceae) in Sicily

The taxa of Orobanche occurring in Sicily and on the surrounding islets have been surveyed in the field and in herbaria. In total, 23 species occur in the region. O. litorea is found to be distinct from O. minor and O. thapsoides from O. canescens. O. crenata and O. ramosa are serious pests that cause heavy losses to broad bean and tomato cultures, respectively.

Abstract Original material of the 12 taxa described as new by Bertoloni has been examined, and typification of their names is discussed. Lectotypes are designated for 11 of Bertoloni's names, one (O. densiflora Bertol.) had been lectotypified before. Orobanche bicolor Bertol. (non C. A. A new species of Orobanche (Orobanchaceae) from Israel

Orobanche daninii a new species belonging to Orobanche sect. Trionychon is described and illustrated from the inland near Paran, Israel. Its relationships with O. aegyptiaca, O. mutelii and O. schultzii are examined.
